Research Projects

In 2016, Quantemna successfully contributed towards the completion of a project aiming to glean good management practices in extension services in the Western Cape Province of South Africa.  Quantemna was contracted by the University of the Free State’s Centre for Sustainable Agriculture, Extension and Advisory Services, to assist with the survey design, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and report writing for this project.  This project was funded by, and done in collaboration with, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

Quantemna was also contracted by the Vaal University of Technology in 2016 to conduct a Student Tracer Study and a Graduate Employer Satisfaction Study.  Both of which were successfully completed.

In 2017 and 2018, Quantemna conducted a two-stage research project for the Department of Student Affairs at the University of the Free State.  This project aimed to track the movements of students amongst the campus residences.  Quantemna was involved in designing online surveys, conducting telephone interviews, analysing the qualitative data and compiling a report to portray the salient findings.  Quantemna will be continuing to assist the Department of Student Affairs with a comprehensive report regarding residence life at the University of the Free State in 2019.

Quantemna has also been sub-contracted by MelodyM Consulting to assist with quantitative analysis for African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD).  AWARD is an organisation aimed at growing leadership skills, fostering mentoring partnerships, and enhancing science skills amongst African women.  Additional projects that Quantemna has assisted MelodyM Consulting with include data analysis for an institutional review report for the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), as well as data analysis for numerous projects commissioned to MelodyM Consulting by the University of the Free State, which include the evaluation of the UFS101 module presented to first year students and an evaluation of the Gateway Orientation Sessions also presented to first year students.

Student research

Quantemna is committed to empowering postgraduate students to obtain their degrees by assisting them in their research journeys.  Since its inception, the company has been involved in assisting postgraduate students with the statistical analyses of their research data, an endeavour that contributes in a small but significant way to the upliftment of students through higher education, and as such a cause close to the hearts of the director and employees.  A cause which we plan to stay involved in for a long time to come.

Training

Apart from a commitment to assisting students with data analysis, Quantemna is also involved in the training of students and staff at higher education institutions in the use of statistical software, primarily the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), which can be provided on-site or online.  The company has offered both basic and advanced training in the use of SPSS to staff and students from a number of higher education institutions in South Africa, including the University of the Free State and the University of the Western Cape.  The company has had an ongoing contract with the Centre for Health Systems Research and Development of the University of the Free State to aid in the capacity building of its staff in the analysis of data.
